The VW Up GTI concept has been exposed– a sporty variation of its Up city car that’s powered by a pokey 115hp fuel engine. This includes the red stripe in the radiate grille, the black double stripes across the side sills and the black stripe on the tailgate. It shares the normal styling cues we’re accustomed to from a VW GTI. This nippy model will be VW’s answer to the Renault Twingo GT and Vauxhall Adam S when it goes on sale early 2018. It’s set for UK sale in early 2018 at an expected starting cost around ₤ 15,000.
2018 VW Up GTI Styling
The 2018 VW Up GTI sets itself from the standard model thanks to a black honeycomb grille with stylish red pin-striping– a combination booked for stylish GTI models– and a large blacked out bumper flanked by a pair of big foglights. Black mirror caps, 17-inch alloy wheels, black trim pieces down each side, a roof-mounted spoiler and a thin red stripe on the bootlid round-off this approaching car’s sporty styling. The car also sits 15mm lower than the standard model and will be readily available in both three-door and five-door guise.
2018 VW Up GTI Interior
The interior will consist of a black leather-trimmed stylish wheel, a GTI-badged gear knob and iconic tartan seat trims, borrowed from the Golf GTI. The 2018 VW Up GTI must feature a 3.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system as requirement while a bigger 5.0-inch unit will be an optional additional.
2018 VW Up GTI Engines and Driving
At the heart of the 2018 VW Up GTI is a turbocharged three-cylinder 115hp petrol engine. The combination of this effective engine and the Up’s lightweight building will help it sprint from 0-62mph in less than 9 seconds and on to a 122mph leading speed. Stiffened and decreased suspension needs to make it a blast to drive on twisty roads, too while a selection of active security features will help keep you safe behind the wheel.
2018 VW Up GTI Price and Release Date
The VW Up GTI is set to go on sale in early 2018, when it’ll be priced from ₤ 15,000 for three-door models. The five-door version could set you back around ₤ 1,000 more.
